Bayview Village is a charming, nature-oriented community located in northern Toronto. Bayview’s borders include Finch Avenue East to the north, Leslie Street to the east, Bayview Avenue to the west and Highway 401 to the south. Nearby neighbourhoods include Lawrence Park and Don Mills which are both located south of Bayview Village. Major Bayview Village construction started in 1954 and was completed 10 years later. Bayview Village real estate was built around the landscape of the East Don Valley Parklands and a quarter of the entire neighbourhood is still reserved for nature. The town planner, Dr. Faludi, has been quoted with saying, “We will fit the community into the landscape and not the landscape into the community.”

The Elkhorn Public School and Bayview Middle School are the two public schools that serve this wonderful community. Lacking a high school, students who live in Bayview Village will attend Earl Haig Secondary School. Also, there is the North York YMCA which hosts numerous activities and provides a safe place for kids to go in the afternoon. A sense of community is extremely important to the residents with over half of them being members of the Bayview Village Association. The association represents Bayview Village in matters of government, cares for the welfare of it’s people and helps plan special community events.

As stated before, the East Don Valley Parklands are the neighbourhood’s claim to fame. However, the Bayview Village Tennis Club, established in 1975, is considered to be one of the best in Toronto. Another staple, boasting more than 100 stores, is the Bayview Village Shopping Centre. Inside the mall is the high-end Liquor Control Board of Ontario, which happens to be one of the largest purchasers of alcohol products. Also, Pusateri’s, a high end food catering company, opened it’s doors last year.

Built between 1954 and 1964, most of the Bayview Village real estate is comprised of Colonial Revival houses, split-level houses and bungalows. However, condominiums make up the majority of newer construction. The median price for homes in Bayview Village is over $550,000.
